Marten Threepwood & Das Leben are Aaron Aarunou, Marten Threepwood and Mirko Schomerus. For just about five years the three friends have been writing and playing their homemade music. They sound like singer-songwriters, but put together in the format of a band. These days their live music is played with two acoustic guitars and a drum set/cajón. The songs are written to be polyphonic.

The name of the band still stems from the time when Marten was actually just looking for some session musicians to play his self-written songs. In 2014, after having gone through an array of band projects, Marten decided to start his own thing and thus brought to life the solo project “Marten Threepwood”. He acquired some recording equipment and began to hammer out his own songs at home and put them on YouTube. However, it didn’t take long for him to realise that just sharing his music on the internet wouldn’t be enough for him - he wanted to play live as well. Mirko he met through university. It quickly became apparent to the two that they understood music in a similar fashion, which prompted Mirko to become a part of the project. Soon they would play their first shows together with the songs Marten had written and take on the name “Marten Threepwood & Das Leben”. Aaron became a part of the group in 2017. A stroke of luck, as it turned out that Aarons musical finesse and ideas should be a great asset to the project.

Through Mirko’s and Aaron’s influence Marten’s songs were developed further and further and seeing that the two also brought their own ideas, melodies and entire songs, what had started out as just a music project soon turned into a fully flexed band. Nowadays, each member makes up a unique, irreplaceable part of the group.

Their first album “Eins mit uns” was released in 2021.
